I've never dabbled in the world of downloading programs from p2p systems, but with Avdi Xpress being ?2000+ i may have to rethink my morals!
Does anyone know if the copies of the program work, because i remeber reading somewhere that Avid have introduced something that plugs into the USB port called a "dongle" that basically unlocks the program, and without it the prog is useless.

Avid is the dogs *****cks, so I would very much believe that they possibly use some kind of locking system.
Better just save up and buy it, or try the demo.

Hmm...we have avid at college, and yet I still prefer FCP3. The version we have has hardly any filters or colour correction.
I don't know if you can get these?
An editor pal of mine told me that avid express is used a lot for tv over here and there was a slightly different package for editing film.

unless you're training to be an editor on avid, or angling yourself for that in the industry, wtf do you need avid?
a friend of mine went freelance after a couple of years media100. do his clients now care what package he uses to edit? no. it's the deliverables they are interested in.
avid is far overrated imo, a bit like a certain peter jackson film trilogy ...
